Greetings from hot, sunny, summer in Panama. Thank you so much for your encouragement and support of our ministry here in Atalaya. We appreciate very much your dedication and faithfulness in prayer on our behalf and your sacrificial giving for the Lord’s work!
In January we received a shipment of 60,000 Gospel calendars and tracts in Spanish and over the past few months we have been busy getting them delivered to churches all over the country and door to door in eight villages and towns in the province of Veraguas.
From the Calendar distribution a number of new Bible studies have been started. Pray for Maria and her daughters as they listen on Saturdays and have many questions. Sunday afternoon we have studies with Eustacia & also Maricín. During the week in Atalaya we study with Bella and also with Chana and her husband Cesar.
Once a week we have been studying with Betty and her mother Daisy, but on 3rd April Daisy passed into the presence of her Saviour after a very short illness. Pray for Betty’s unsaved husband and two grown children, that they would turn to Christ through this difficult time for the family.
Worshiping idols is a way of life in Panama. Almost every day is dedicated to a Saint and often one can see parades through the towns carrying the saint from that area. During the annual Saint parade in Atalaya we gave out over 9,000 calendars with tracts. Psalm 119: 130 "The entrance of thy words giveth light." Pray that as people read the verses on the calendars and the tracts that they would find salvation in the true Saviour.
Over the Easter weekend we showed the film “God’s not dead” and a number of our neighbours attended. In total there were about 60 people. Pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to speak to them and they would desire to study God’s word.
We need your prayers concerning an opportunity we have of purchasing the house we are living in and using it for a meeting house for the believers. The owner, who is a widow, is interested in selling to us for $50,000, but to anyone else it is $70,000. She said that she will sell it to the first one to come to her with the cash. It would be a wonderful answer to our prayers for a place to live and for a meeting house.
On 14th April Clive will be traveling to Argentina to attend a conference with South American Service Groups. Pray for safety in travel, good health, participation during the talks on furthering the Gospel, and that he would learn a lot through the conference.
Please continue to pray for the folks in the Atalaya fellowship that they will continue to grow spiritually. We were able to send three of the young people to camp this year and they came home encouraged and wanting to go back next year! It is always encouraging to see people growing in the Lord.
This past few months the Fellowship has been going through the book of Proverbs on a Wednesday evening. Four of the men have been teaching and we are very encouraged with the interest in these Bible studies.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support for the ministry in Panama among the Latin and Buglere People.
Yours, in His Service,
Clive & Hazel Walker
